    Question Yugo m24 bayo help!

I just bought a Czeck vz24 bayonet a few days ago and it wouldn't fit on my k98 mauser because it is a yugo rework and I think that they replaced the cleaning rods with ones of larger diameter. Am I correct on that... I need to know if I will run into the same problem if I were to get an m24 Yugoicon bayonet. my m48 bayonet fits fine but I am looking for a bayonet made pre-war that fits my rifle.

    thanks,
    surpman

First you should figure out exactly what it is you have. Is it a K98icon, an M48, an M24 or an M24/47. If it has the Yugoicon crest, it is no longer a K98 even if some of its parts originally were.

In any case, if it is an M48, any bayonet for the M48 or German K98 should fit the rifle. I have one, I've checked with several types of German bayonets.

If this is the bayonet you asked about earlier, it is most likely an VZ23 which I have no confirmation of them fitting the K98 style bayonet attachment. They look similar to the VZ24 bayonet but looks and actual measurements are two different things.

It is possible there is a build up of dirt inside the bayonet, it is possible there is some damage to the inside of the bayonet. A good cleaning may solve the problem. If it is not fitting over the cleaning rod, does it go on if the cleaning rod is removed?

It is a k98 model that was captured and reworked in Yugoslaviaicon. The bayonet does fit on the rifle without the cleaning rod in however it is very hard to get off which could be a cleaning issue because it went on very smoothly. I decided not to get the bayonet that I asked about earlier and instead found one that I knew for sure was a vz24. I will try cleaning it some more and see if it fits this time.

So I tried cleaning it again and it still didn't work but then I took a flashlight and saw that a massive mess of cosmolineicon had built up in there so I took my .22 cleaning brush and some hoppies solvent and went to work on it. it fits like a glove now.
    thanks for the help
