Just for interest. I have a Springfield 1919 dated "tanto point" cut down bayonet. Converted by UFH in 1942. Together with a shortened scabbard. The hand grips and locking parts have been replaced at some point with Utica Cutlery UC made parts. If the locking parts ware out. The bayonet stays locked on to the rifle and you have to dissassemble the hand grips. Hope this information is of help and will keep early 1905 bayonets in use.
Kind regards, Lester
