A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). My 4.583 mil range IHC has it's original 1-54 barrel and what I believe are many of it's original parts. I discussed my rifle with Wayne Bradford on the old CSPicon forum some years back. Based on barrel date and parts make-up, Wayne believed my rifle was probably assembled during the Spring of 1954.

Well, I should have listened because I screwed the pooch on this one. It was totally missrepresented, the seller stated 99% original, but my fault for buying it with no information. I am not going to post pictures because it's not worth looking at. The stock is sanded, and has been heavily screwed up by a home-bedding job, the bullet guide is from WWII, the gas plug is not IHC it's P marked, the cylinder lock has been sanded till shiney, the follower is a "12" marked SA piece, the bolt, hammer and safety are from later rifles, the rear sight is completely wrong from the NM aperature to the wrong windage and elevation knobs, and the muzzle does not guage 0. My stupidity has me very embarrased. You don't spend that kind of money on a rifle that you have no good description or pictures of unless maybe if you know the seller. This has been a fine lesson for me and every once in awhile you need one. The guys return policy said unspecified so I think the chances of getting my money back are zero.

I was finishing cleaning up the rifle and found that the op rod has had a grinder or dremel taken to it. Whoever this guy was he apparently was trying to build a shooter.

How about a report on the rifle if it has arrived.

Sure wish I didn't "look up" or even commented on the rifle in the first place. Don't be to hard on yourself, the guy is not only a nut case but looks like he's also a thief. Unless he is willing to take a return. I think his response's to your questions would have bothered me more than the pictures of the rifle. I would at least try and return it as it sure does not sound like 99 % correct.

I don't feel too bad anymore. I shined it all up and I think it will be a great shooter and if you don't take it apart you cant see all the mods on the stock. The guy told me to get f'ed so I left him a nice feedback on GB.
