Here is another Boyt 44 sling but IMHO it's not easy to understand if rivets are steel or other metal.

Here another Boyt 44 sling where green oxide over rivets make me think they are brass.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I know what you mean, I have one here that looks like they are washed in copper. I have just a set of frogs that have the leather still attatched and they are for sure brass. I know there's people here that have dozens of these slings and will have some input shortly. Looks like my first statement is what we call around here "Wrong". They must have used everything.
    Regards, Jim

    Thank you.
That is a WWI era sling. Note the inspector's initials under the maker mark. WWII Model 1907 slings did not have inspector's initials.

As the others have noted, 1942 dated Boyt slings will be found with both brass and steel frogs.
