    What the final answer?

...w/r/t Mitchels Mausers? Are they actual Wehrmacht used K98icon rifles or not? I've heard good things and I've heard bad things...allegations of deception...can anyone shed light on this?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Hi ..

You might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches our site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words mitchell mausers and see what happens ..

There are dozens of previous posts on the subject that will probably answer your question definitively.

I've also moved your thread to the Mauser Rifle information forums.

    Regards,
    Doug

    Doug,

    That's no fun.

Short answer, depends on the rifle. I think they ran out of "German" K98icon's a couple of years ago and have been selling M48's as K98's recently.

As for deceptive, yes. They are not matching numbers, they are matching Mitchel's numbers. Technically they are not lying, the numbers on the rifle match but Mitchel's stamped them that way after scrubbing the originals off.

In summary, they are not worth anywhere near what they sell them for, they are not collectible but if you find one on the second hand market for a good price, there's nothing wrong with them. They are refurbished rifles, like new, many like that aspect, many don't. They go bang when you pull the trigger and that's the important thing.
