    A little off-topic, sorta

A buddy has been pestering me for a few months to sell him my Howa M1icon carbine. He felt since I had 13 other ones, I had enough. I finally gave in, and with the cash proceeds bought a Ruger Blackhawk (in .30 carbine, of course). Might as well, as I have plenty of ammo. Anyway, the Blackhawk is a nice companion piece to the rifles. Has anyone out there experimented with reduced-power reloads of 30 carbine for use in pistols? I wouldn't try it in a rifle.

    TIA

Just go to cast bullets and look in the Lyman cast bullet loads. The jackets aren't so violent but they sure put on a light show. They'll blow the coffee cups right off your bench...

I have the Ruger and the Automag. With factory ammo they put out a pretty big flash. I haven't tried reduced power reloads in them.

Took the Blackhawk to the range yesterday. A hoot to shoot. Factory commercial ammo works fine. My supposedly GI-equivalent handloads work fine, but USGI LC52 ammo produces cases that always stick in the chambers. Makes me wonder if the old USGI is loaded to higher pressures? It was a bright day so I didn't notice the muzzle flash...

I've always wanted to get one of these and have a gunsmith remove and reinstall the front sight and make it a 3" bbl " storekeeper's model" .

If you want reduced loads, Buy Wolfs ammo!!!! In mine I shoot anything I shoot in my Carbines. No nasty Russianicon ammo!!! I would think reduced loads would work fine in the Blackhawk, I may try some next time I reload. GK
