    Stocking up a P14

I've recently mated an Eddystone P14 with an original fatso or fatboy stock and want to make sure everything is as it's supposed to be. I've spent a couple of useful lunch hours going over old threads on the forum and I think I get the gist of it but a couple of questions: 1) Is the barrel re-inforce supposed to bear on the stock? 2) Are the front and rear triggerguard screw bushings supposed to be firmly in contact with both guard and receiver when it's tightened up and the wood compressed? The bushings are both nice and tight and the barrel on this rifle shows little wear along with having proper up pressure from the muzzle end of the stock so I'm hoping it may have some accuracy potential and I'm planning to use it in the "Ross Rifle" shoot locally in July. Thanks, in advance, for any insights.

Sounds like it's good enough to take to the range and have a go. If it doesn't shoot well, then it's time to start pondering.

jmoore: Yessir, it's going to the range this weekend. I suspect it will probably be OK but then I have to turn my attention to my other P14 which has a Winchester action/ barrel installed in an M1917 stock (very poorly installed!). The receiver stands at least a quarter inch above where it should with interference along the sides of the body and under the barrel reinforce. I'd like to find a detailed description of original bedding but it's barely mentioned in the couple of books I own about Enfields. I'm mainly a Lee-Enfield guy so maybe this is just too simple and obvious compared to stocking up those. Failing any additional info I think I'll assume that there should only be two points of contact- the small and large flats at rear and front of action body with barrel totally free except for near muzzle. I'd appreciate any references anyone can point me to.
