    1942 Savage Enfield No4MkI* "Sniper"

Wondering if anyone can tell me what this rifle might be worth, was planning to put it up for sale. Pics won't fit, ser# is14C6712, below that "S" 1942, and Ord stamp, top of chamber is stamped ENGLAND, bottom of stock has S1 and near ring, "S", tip of barrel "303 222 nad 185T.magazine has an "S" on mag and follower. Matching SN on bolt handle 5/L rifled barrel. top left of chamber below wood "E/45", "S" stamped on most parts as well, can email pics to anyone interested.
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Also, if you want to compare your Savage Enfield (sniper) against an "all correct" as originally issued one, go to the United Kingdon - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here).

With thanks to Advisory Panelicon member Lance, there's also a rare "all correct" 1942 No.4 Mk1*(T) Savage Sniper Rifle (less scope) (click here) .....

Lance's article, accompanied by a detailed 165 pic photo montage, speaks to this example as being one of approximately 3,400 Savage rifles converted by Holland and Holland and re-barreled with an Enfield 5 groove barrel, however, it was never fitted with a matching No.32 scope.

Finally, you also might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches our site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words savage enfield and see what happens ..

    Regards,
    Doug
