Sometimes the buffers cause their own type of troubles. I'm with Bill after hearing everything else you say, I think maybe over gassed. The Norinco (AKs) guns first came into Canadaicon in about 1985, they had things like this happen. One hit so hard that the rear block was driven out of the receiver(Folding stock version).

Kalashnikov's design has worked for many years without a buffer. They are a waste of money in my opinion. Pictures of your gas tube may shed some light on this. Also, is it a milled receiver? If it is milled and it has the solid gas tube you may consider replacing it with a perforated one. Generally milled came with the perforated gas tube and stamped with the solid tube.

It's stamped and does in fact have the solid gas tube. I have to pickup a new cable for the camera to post pics which I've been wanting to do.
I'm looking at the bolt carrier now and the "beak" on the rear is peened real bad!!! It's hitting the hammer hard enough that it's starting to gouge it also!!!
I see what you mean Bill the buffer isn't gonna do anything the bolt can't travel that far.
Looking at it I'm thinking the carrier is striking the hammer so hard it's whacking the catch hook, basically bottoming out an that's the metallic sound an that's what I'm feeling in my cheek.
It's looking like a gas issue Thanks for heads up on the tubes

For Sale= 1976 Wasr-10/63 low round count, feeds reliably, looks cool, stock is factory mint

It sounds like it's "over gassed." The gas port hole in the barrel is too big.

It's a quick fix with a TIG welder.

Wolff has an extra power recoil spring that might help.

Recieved the goodie box yesterday, I tell ya it's the closet I get to the feeling you got when you where a kid on Christmas mornin.
Wolf extra power recoil spring, AK74 brake, side mount for the red dot, truglo red dot sight, hogue grip, buffer for giggles.
I googled this issue an it seems its pretty common with the wasr 10. Most say they replaced the recoil spring with the wolf spring and that fixed it.
    I'll post results Sunday....
