    Rock Island Identifying Marks

I am looking at a Rock Island 1903 with a receiver SN in the 400k range and a HS 44 barrel, single punch on receiver and straight stock. An arsenal refurbished but what is curious is the last four digits of SN are electro penciled on top of bolt and imprinted in stock. Any significance to these traits? No other cartouches noted.
