IF...BIG IF....I would ever need to grab a rifle for zombie apocalypse, I would take my AR. Second choice is the M1 Carbine that I have the first 15 rd mag loaded with the Hornady Critical Defense. Wife or grand-daughter can handle that with limited experience. My NPM is accurate and relaiable so it's a step in the right direction. With pension earnings being the deciding factor, I may choose to have the NPM in my upstairs vault, I know it is less likely to travel well beyond intended range than a 30.06.

Speer Gold Dot is supposed to have similar performance in this role. Have not tried it but read a review somewhere. I will post if I can recall where.
