Lov'n the new Bren

A newly "reactivated" MKII by none other than Len Savage himself. Chambered in 7.62x54R using ZB39 mags. Perhaps one of the last Brens ever to be imported into California (before the impending ban next year).

Just one little point DJ. I wouldn't fire it like that for toooo long. That's the rear end of the gas cylinder where it gets VERY hot - as gas cylinders tend to do. I would take that left hand and put it over the small of the butt, gripping the butt with your thumb underneath. Now slightly twist the pistol grip clockwise - down and under the gun while trying to react against this force with the left hand twisting the butt against it. Now the gun will be rock solid.

The finest light machine gun to ever be put into the hands of a fighting soldier. Now fire a nice looooong burst just to savour the moment.

One of the first things I recall doing with my young son, Robert, when he was about 10 or twelve or so was letting him fire a Bren. After all, it's only right and proper for every youngster to be able to say in the future '.........I have fired a Bren gun.....'. Next was shoot a Thompson............ then a Vickers MMG. After that, there's no need for anything else

You're not kidding. It only takes ONE of those scorching hot shells to drop into your hand to figure that out. I'm still working on where to put the left hand. Holding the stock is of course recommended, but I'm just not used to that yet. I've also tried extending the carry handle and holding on to that with the left. Works, but sometimes gets in the way of the sight.

You soon get used to holding the gun properly when you have a training Sergeant stood behind you. You think that he's looking at your target through his binoculard until you feel the toe of his boot smack up hard against your bollocks. He could tell that you weren't holding it correctly by the way the bullets were scatered about all over the place. Just hold it right - and get used to it!

I know what you're saying Brian, but when you're 12 years old, there's something about a Bren, especially when you've been reading about it in comics since you were 7!

I didn't forget the L7A2 GPMG David! The US M240 ain't too bad either come to think of it!!

Peter, there's something about a Bren at 50 years old let alone 12!!!

Ah yes trying to pull 3 rd bursts and wondering why the magazine seemed to last sooooo long.

Once I realized I was pulling single rounds just saying "f" it and hold the trigger down till the whole next mag was downrange. ;-)
