    Buttstock Marking Discs

Does anyone on the forum have a copy of the following Book/ Manual by Capt. Peter Laidlericon

"The Identification of Buttstock Marking Discs in Britishicon Service 1900-1944"

If so do you find it helpfull, and would you recommend it.
Thanks in advance for your time, and consideration.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I found it VERY helpful and would certainly recommend it. I use mine virtually every day. It is sooooooo cheap that you could buy TWO or even three copies. Then use one as your bench copy, one in your library and another to keep just in case.

I was told that this is the authorititive book on this subject, certainly for Britishicon Service, being taken straight from an old copy of the 'Equipment Regulations for Quartermasters'. There are some out there who know more that the Official Government publication of course, but with this book, you will be a good runner-up

Don't go out in the wind Pete, the tickets might blow off.
Holzhacker, yes, it is a good book to have, quick and easy, even though the Author gets a bit carried away sometimes, his info is spot on.

In fact Brian, if you have spare copies fopr sale of that rare, authoritative, cheap and well written little book that is straight from the horses mouth - or at least, straight from the 1941 Equipment Regulations, maybe you could spread the good word and do a little review of it for the Forum. If my memory is correct, I think it's a self publication titled THE IDENTIFICATION OF BUTTSTOCK MARKING DISCS IN BRITISH SERVICE. 1900 - 1944. By, er....., I forget his name now

Peter Laidlericon, the author of the book you mention is Capt. Peter Laidler. I read somewhere he was a cook or something in the Britishicon military.
