Is it possible to weld two inches back on the end of cut off barrel?

    Thanks --- Kent

Does this question have a story behind it? I only ask because I assume you have the 2" piece.

No story. I bought it like this and just trying to save it.
I found a piece of barrel I can use for the repair.
I think if I find a local gunsmith he can make a male/female cut and then silver solder the repair piece back on.
It shouldn't be much different than a choke install.

Like browningautorifleicon said,.....no,not possible. You can get it rebarreled not rewelded,if it was that easy guys would JB weld Bubba specials back together and cut out the middle man.

I would think that welding on that thin barrel wall would be prone to warpage. Even if successful I would not trust the barrel. Silver solder or brazing? Nope.

Replacement is warranted. Find another barrel that is already cut down or has damage or something.

FWIW,The repair method described in post 4 is possible and it will work IF the person doing the fix knows what they doing. I've seen it done.
