    MAS 49/56 scope mount?

I am seeking opinions about a scope mount for the MAS 49/56.
The photo attached (no scope ) is avaliable but I am not sure from the photo is it is a side mount or if it places the scope above the bore. Opinions? The only other options avaliable are the McCanns and S&K mounts which place the optic far to high in my opinion.

the mount is on the left side. holds zero. original issue is preferred. Kvar made an excellent mount to use other optics. I use Russianicon 8 power.

I thought it was an off center mount. The K-var is out of production. It seemed to be the best aftermarket mount for an over the bore configuration although still a bit high.
Finding/ making rings for the original Frenchicon mount might be a bit of a trick.

If it shoots as good as it looks (nice riser) I bet it works real well. I am quite impressed with the design of the 49/56 other than the sights. Thus the scope mount search.
