Lee Enfield Cavalry carbine, been a long wait but....

Only thing I was waiting for was a barrel band to take it to the range and give it a try, It arrived other day (big thanks to Phil Rose) could only get to the local range so it was 50mtrs.

This is the first shoot I,ve had with it, its taken some time for the bits but well worth the wait, still some work to do and blue the barrel band and nose cap, but was itching to give it a run out, I loaded up 20 downloads, I intend to use cast bullets, but on this run out it was what I use in a No4.

First was the problem with the sights, it was shooting low at 25mtrs but in a straight line, was happy with two rounds touching each other so moved on to 50mtrs.

At 50mtrs I had to use another POA as the top of the target was no good bullet drop was too much, so with the correct POA managed this group at the bottom, (the one in the middle of the group of 3 should of been patched, was from a previous group) but when the going was starting to get good I had no ammo left.

Still a good day, but need to take the fore-end off to inspect the barrel channel and nose cap.

One thing for sure I wont be running full loads, as it was a bit punchy with the down loads The bandolier is an original from 1901, trying to trace the name inside.

    Something really different!

Can you organize a horse and make the next test from the saddle?

Thanks Gary, still a bit to do but brought a smile to the face, Patrick hope to get some cast pills before winter sets in and give you a run for the money regarding your Mauser carbine....

As for the horse think I,ll give that a miss but wouldn't mind sourcing a cavalry sword of that period.

I have the last nitro-competition for this year at the weekend. After that, I will be happy to take up the challenge "Boer War Mauser vs. Enfield"!

Where can I place my bet on the Enfield. BTW what does a Mauser cav. carbine look like? (to compete fairly, it´d have to be a shorty. Did they ever make one?)

Masses of them. Take a look at "Mauser Military Rifles of the World".

Looks great, congrats. Thanks to you bigduke6 I have my wood being made and a endcap in the mail. Can't wait till all arrives and I can restore the one i have which has a good barrel.

My other LEC is original and has a poor barrel so it won't be used, not positive I will use the one I restore either.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
