L59A1 magazine?
I was looking over my L59A1 rifle for the first time in a long, long time and noticed that there is no spring/follower assembly in the magazine. Shouldn't this be present in order to cycle drill rounds? The chamber is not pinned or blocked in any way.

You're right Beery and Steve. The chamber should be clear so that you can cycle drill rounds. BUT ahead of it the barrel should be open to the left and plogged/welded with a truncated plug (usually an SLR piston machined to fit.....) to deflect out to the left and forwards any accidentally discharged live round. This should NEVER happen of course and a couple of mechanical safetys were incorporated to ensure this.
Me and another chap (whom I'm seeing in the next week or so.....) drew up the drawings for this rifle incidentally based on a general staff requirement.

I quite agree Peter. Getting one is the issue!

I know of a couple in the UK but they have deactivated (I know, deactivating a well and truly deactivated gun is plain stupid but thats the way it is unfortunately).
