I find it intreresting that guys who carried the Thompson really liked them. A guy in town went through the whole war from shortly after D-day to meeting the Russians on the Elbe with one that he scrounged. When it was time to go home, he stripped it down and threw it in the river, along with a Jeep they had stolen from the MP's. When he came home he joined the Newark, NJ. PD and spent the next 20 years as a motorcycle cop. Oklahoma boy, he drove for the limo service I used.

I put this up on the WWII Memorial site and framed it for him. He was so moved.
