Lee Enfield L39 7.62 Help with trigger please.

Hi, Just acquired a Lee Enfield L39 7.62 target rifle with hammered barrel. Very accurate on the range but the two stage trigger is very creaky and then quite slack after firing. I was wondering if I can purchase a specialist trigger for this rifle and if so, can anyone give advice on which one and where I can get it. I would prefer if the old trigger can be put back when necessary but if not I would go with the new one. Going to the States in a week so a dealer over there would be ok. Thanks for any help you can give. John

You don't need a new trigger......... Look at it this way. If what you've got was suitable for snipers who REALLY did need a good trigger, then it should be good enough for you. What you need to do is to set the whole thing up correctly. You wouldn't buy a new VW engine just because the ECU was playing up. You'd just fix up what you have.

There is a well written article on the forum somewhere about how to do it. Read, read, then read again and only THEN set about it

The Huber trigger is a drop in replacement for the standard No 4 trigger. It CAN be set up to give you a nice smoother trigger, even a single stage one. It WON'T give you a lighter trigger pull without modifying other parts of the action.

I have installed one of these, would have been better off saving my money and following the process outlined in the article mentioned above.

The Can-West trigger is another one, but it apparently requires a fair bit of modification to the rifle. Maybe Google it and see what is involved.

The bog-standard trigger, suitably tweaked, is still probably the best value.
