gtodan- thank you very much for the info! To me, that is one of those things that I love hearing about. As an ex-factory worker I can see this happening with no problem.
Now, being new to Mauser's, does this add to the value of the rifle? I had really intended on shooting it at military shoots along side my No4Mk1*, No1Mk111*, and a Czarist era Nagant.

Not sure what you are getting at about adding value. Shooting it is a personal preference. I have similar firearms. I shoot em all. If it was uber rare maybe not. But I dont think it falls into uber rare. I too think it was reblued. That detracts. If you want you can try and find a period stock for it. Given what you paid for it, it would increase its value IMHO. They are out there. But it takes some internet legwork. You have to do your research on what you need to be correct. PM me if you want have any other questions. Nice rifle good find great friend.

gtodan- That was exactly what I was asking. I will shoot it and not feel bad about possibly decreasing the value of some uber rare, once in a lifetime Mauser.
Tim is a great friend and we do each other favours like this all the time. Matter of fact I have a WW2 Aussie slouch hat that was given to me by a vet from New Guinea that we are working on a deal for. Ebay price would be double what I will let it go for him.
    Thanks for all your help.
