Sick of Mitchell's Mausers and Their Lies

So i did something about it. I picked up another issue of Military Surplus magazine and, like always, there's the lying bastard and his sh*t he peddles in the back.

i emailed this to the publisher:

    Hello,

I just wanted to say that i enjoy the Military Surplus issues of magazines you put out. They showcase great pieces of history that will never be made again and how much fun they can be. However, the ads for Mitchell's Mausers products in every one is disappointing. Especially when there are articles about MM products portraying them in a positive light. Don Mitchell is an absolute liar and his products are not the genuine, collectible item he wants and passes them off to be.

For example, his Germanicon 98k rifles that he and his company states are all matching and genuine are not. They are typical, every day, run-of-the-mill Russianicon capture rifles that Mitchell's Mausers has sanded the stocks (in some cases restocked), re-blued, re-stamped to force match and applied fake markings to. Mitchell's Mausers has ruined hundreds of thousands of them with these processes. The most maddening and obviously faked part is the silver bolt put on them. German Mausers never had silver bolts. Blued and phoshated, but never silver. They will still be fine shooters but their historical and collectible value is nil. His 91/30 PU snipers are also not the real deal. They are average 91/30s with post war production scopes put on them so he can jack up the price. Don is also extremely cocky and stubborn.

I know people who have contacted Mr. Mitchell to inquire about his practices and he has responded with rude emails in return. I assume his company pays to advertise and put products in your magazines, but he is just using your otherwise fine issues to lie and deceive. The general consensus amongst those who know these rifles is that only the uninformed and gullible guy his (very overpriced) guns. i don't mean any disrespect to you or your publication, but i just felt it would be best to share the truth so maybe you can in the future.

    ---Justin---

i know there will be no good that comes from this. after all, money makes the world go 'round. but i couldn't sit quietly anymore.

I like it even though you are not telling them anything they do not already know.

Well that's capitalism... If people stopped buying his junk he would go out of business but there are guys out there who want a "New" looking K98icon or PU and tell themselves it doesn't matter if they're fake. A Mitchell's Mauser is like riding a Jap Harley clone we see on the roads today, it's fun until your friends find out.
