    SMLE Rear site problem.

    Hello all.

This problem of the rear sight moving forward when shooting i thought i had sorted. I gently tightened things up on the rear, but has not stopped it. Even though it is hard to move now with your fingers.

Any suggestions welcome. I have looked at parts lists for this area of the sights and wonder if there is not some part missing? Non are very detailed in this area.

If I knew how to post pictures I would post one of a good rear sight. You should have to depress that button on the side to release the slide lock which also forms a micro-adjust on the other side.

It may just need a good cleaning. Dirt, grease, and paint build up in the grooves to point sight no longer locks. Clean both the grooves and the release button till it moves freely.

There's only ONE or TWO things that stops the cursor moving up the slide and that is a 'threaded'/serrated sort of segment. And this is held firmly in place by a spring. Both as cheap as chips, readily available new and simplicity itself to replace
