will someone help me identify this?

    Hello everyone,
This edged weapon has been sitting in my display cabinet forever and I realized I had no idea what or when it was. I got this from my mom who got it from her dad. There are no markings on anything, even the frog (?). In looking at pictures I see some close but not exact so I'm asking for help. Thanks!!

I believe that is what is called a Germanicon "Waling Out" bayonet. It is a bayonet the soldiers purchased on their own to wear when they went walking out into town. It was not designed to be used in combat and some may not even actually fit on a rifle but I would expect most do. It is a dress bayonet.

How interesting. Thank you very much for satisfying my curiosity. If anyone has more information I'd love to hear it.
