RIA stamp on stock with flaming ordnance bomb question

The stock is on a NRA/DCM carbine that came from the Rock Island Arsenal in February 1967. It’s an oval cut Winchester high wood stock. There is a box with RIA over EB on the left side below the rear sight which I assume indicates the carbine was rebuilt at Rock Island.

What’s the significance of the flaming/ordnance bomb below the recoil plate?

Most likely someone with too much time on their hands and just hit the stock with the ordnance bomb stamp.

My M1icon carbine RIA stamp is on the right side of the butt, it came to me direct from RIA. I think the stock stamper on the OPs gun got his locations mixed-up.

I've seen those ord. bombs stamped there on Rock-Ola stocks. I think I've seen them on other make stocks as well. I suspect that this may indicate a replacement stock (spares were made by all makers).

jimb.................It rolls around in the back on my mind that I have seen a stock marked like that before too.

Would a replacement stock have a CC stamp? This one has W.R.A. over G.H.D. and a crossed cannon stamp on the right side

I'm not sure whether the ones produced by the carbine makers were marked with the ord. stamp or not, but I know the ones made by Jamestown Lounge had a special Ord. stamp.
