In the eye (brain) of the beholder.

A few phrases spring to mind when I'm reading some posts.........things like - It takes all kinds....., some mothers do have 'em, and even a few not so nice expletives.
It all reverts back to my own inability to suffer fools gladly.........blame the Army....parents, whoever, just don't blame me.
What's the point to this diatribe???? frustration?, old age or a combination of both?
Maybe I just need to take a big step back, wrap my laughing gear around a nice red and enjoy the fun while I still can................... ahh yes, that was it Lee Enfields

No, I haven't lost it, just making the point that us old hands need to remember that even though we have waded through the same inane questions and comments countless times before, there is always a new questioner with a new slant on something either not understood or not at the fingertips of the seeker.
There is always new information and new interpretations coming to light as technology allows us access to previously hidden files and information, and though we are not teachers as such, we are the ones new enquirers seek out for direction and information on what to them is a new and exciting discovery/adventure.

As new files and information come to light, our previously well thumbed texts take a beating, we have questioned Reynolds, Stratton and now, god forbid, Skennertonicon.
But rightly so, even those greats would know that there is a lot left to be learnt about these rifles, strewth, we haven't even started on the rest of life, all we are doing is getting stressed over a few firearms.
I'd offer this, let's just sit back, assist with what we know, research what we don't and let's see if the end result is a better understanding of the winning combination.
It could be worse, at least our history wasn't destroyed to the extent the losing teams was.

Muff you are right about being the teacher you are stuck with that one.
You are wrong about the history bit.
JWH sold off or had destryted almost all of ours, and all the Police forces are doing their best to remove the rest.
Museums in Europe and Englandicon are full of working models small to the largest slowest to the fastest. Here nothing rattles or operates if there is one. The Kiwis have a better sense of preservation than us and every thing works and can be held by the people. Some of us can not even have a Lithgowicon bren welded up, find a field piece that is not welded up.
I could go on Muff but the flags are getting heavy and the steel suit thin.

Worth remembering too how many generations of "old hands" have gone to their rest taking with them how many times the info we now think of as all the sum of all knowledge.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

Its getting harder to hold arms in NZicon actually. A new Reg/law out this month is going to turn many a cat A semi-auto rifle into an E and that's simply painful. Pretty much want to shoot in service rifle with an AR15 or similar now means you have to get your E licence....

For those not aware in NZ a "cat a" means I can hold as many bolt action rifles as I want. As many semi-autos as I want as long as the mag holds a max of 7. A cat E licence is needed for a semi auto with more than 7 rounds. The new reg say that semi-autos with pistol grips will now be Es....

Basically if its big and black its nasty so its a big safe for you to get the E licence.

My apologies, I had no intention of starting a political thread on which country is the hardest done by, as a matter of fact I don't give a toss.
My intention was simply to tell the stressed out few that are getting a bit snappy or not as gentle with their corrections, to cool it.

The constant research I do seeking info. on related subjects leads me constantly through files and archived information as yet unseen, to access these files takes time and money, unopened boxes of paperwork that may or may not reveal the answers or only just another piece of the puzzle, but it is still there to be explored.
Just the change of a word, not necessarily a keyword, opens up more archived sources and links.

The sharing of information between the Enfield factories ensures that even if it seems lost, there will still be a copy or letter sitting in a box somewhere in one of the Dominions, yet to be revealed. Maybe some has been destroyed, but I know that that is not the case here in OZ.

The digital revolution has given us the ability to copy and scan information that 20 years ago was a slow costly and time consuming task, but constraints of time and money are still with us today, we have the knowhow, just not the access we desire at a moments notice, needing each file to be prechecked for sensitive and security related content.(we still have classified status on our WWII MIA's, ....dirty point with me)

So if the answer is really needed, not just speculation, then if you are willing to go the hard yards, then the truth will out.

    Thanks Muffet.2008.

Please refrain from political discussion, and rants. This is not the forum for that stuff.

And for that patience and generosity to share the knowledge I thank you and all the other people on this board. Certainly the amount of information (and misinformation ) is staggering and would take forever to wade through. Painful as it may be to answer some of the same old questions at least by being there with a quick and ready answer you are helping cut through the BS and more importantly in some instances saving people from the potentially tragic results of their own stupidity. As a relatively new collector and shooter the information contained on this board is a major contributor to my Enfield-itis. (The wife won't thank you for that but I sure do)
As a resident of Florida I am able to buy pretty much what I want when I want including private sales where the only thing I need to do is show the seller my Florida Drivers license and state I am not a convicted felon and the weapon is mine.

Thanks again to you all and keep that info coming.

I will say this, recently it seems there have been threads started and replies posted that seem very TROLL like. A lot of "I heard,,what do you think" and "Yes,,but what if?"
After a while I think people realize all their doing is talking in circles, at some point you have to put that to bed.
This is the only place I hang out on the web, you get to know how people ask/answer questions and WHO asks/answers, something's kinda stand out.
I could be completely off base here but,,,,,
