There is definitely some Britishicon / Commonwealth influence on that belt . That strap and buckle seems to attach some how to the British P-37 system . I know the Brits had been contracted to do some US webbing during the war . I have a few examples , one can tell by the weave of the webbing and the fasteners used. Since that is Canadianicon it would have been of better Quality . They said that the Canadian made Equipment was THE best during the war . The Canadian Wool Battle Dress was a nicer shade of green and more comfortable to wear. Maybe it was contracted for the American / Canadian 1st Special Service Force AKA "Devil's Brigade". Interesting piece as a Collector of Web Gear I've never seen one .

Canadians teamed with Americans in the Aleutian Islands too wearing their battledress but equipped with U.S. helmets and equipment.

The Ironic thing about the American troops sent there ( forgot the Div ) was they were trained for Desert warfare. Most of their equipment was equipped as such. Leather boots and no Shoe Pacs caused most of the casualties.
