M1 Carbine Stock - Crossed Cannons Cartouche

    Dear Collectors,

    a friend owns a M1icon Carbine stock.
Last night I checked it carefully with a magnifying glass and, in the middle of dirty of oil, grease, cosmolineicon etc etc, I think I saw a Crossed Cannons cartouche in the exact position I marked with a red spot in the picture below (pictures are pure examples I took from the web).

On the other side a Crossed Cannons cartouch is marked in its usual position, yellow spot.

As for your experience have you ever seen a possibile Crossed Cannons cartouche in the exact place marked with red spot, or maybe it was just my imagination ?

    Thank you in advance.

Bizio, Not your imagination, I believe Inland did a small CC in the sling well early. I seem to recall that others did to. I can't tell from your photo if that stock is I cut or oval. I think I have one around here some ware. I'll get it out later.
    Regards.....Frank

    Thank you, frankderrico.

I did not take real photos of the stock, as I said above the pictures are pure examples I took from the web on which I marked the red and yellow dots.
I can ask my friend to bring me here again his stock so that I can take real pictures.

When Inland used the crossed cannon stamp in the sling well they did not stamp the right side with the large acceptance stamp. But the ordnance bomb stamp was used for a period of time in the sling well at the same time as the acceptance stamp on the right side of the stock.
