T 's back something for the forum

Well have the T back and my teaked Mk III so will try and get to the range and continue the saga.

I have taken some pics of the stockmakers Mk I that he did an English walnut stock for as he had some lying around and thought his Mk I would look good.
He has been a stock maker for 35 years and learned the trade from his Grandfather all by hand and eye as he does not use or own a pantograph.
Sprinter arms did the new barrel for him hand filing the knox form to the correct profile from the old one.

We were a bit rushed as there was another client there waiting for his gear such is this bloke in demand, I also forgot to get pics of the 3 shot clover leaf group this rifle produced at 50m sorry guys.
And I am not driving the 250 klm's one way ta get the pic sorry bout that but I saw the target.

Any way hope you like the pics it is a one of a kind.

LOL WP1976 I was on a mission so we just ad libbed the photo shoot besides the bikini clad girl just fell into the pool in the background as I still had the 250 klm return trip home to do and he had another chap waiting to pick up his gear as well.
If you look at the screw heads on the rear peep and on the butt plate they are all lined up the ejector screw could be a flukey one but to do that shows attention to detail that a only craftsman has I am sure Peter Laidlericon will agree on that score Eh What!

But yes he is very good a doing stocks and hopefully the mettle of the re-bedding he did on my T will be tested Sat, the reason the action was rocking on the Kingscrew (yes Peter Aussie bullyang again?) as it was not the right one and was not tightening down but just binding up about 5mm short hence why the whole action was loose in the stock.

The more I get into this weapon the more I am thinking the bullsh*t I was fed from a so called mate that it sat in an armoury or museum as a display item for 50 years is getting to looking like me putting a 2 cent rocket up my d*te and expecting to get to the moon passed Richard Bransons space plane. And I haven't even tried the scope out yet!
Should have brought that one in the NT for 6k as it had the lot scope tin, transit case this thing I got had an SLR pull through in it geez and an MA oil bottle well at least I put a BSA bottle in there and a correct pull through gads where is my JD & Cocal Cola............

    Hey CINDERS,

That is one pretty looking rifle you have there. And as stated before, you are lucky to have such a talented stockmaker nearby. I used to have one about a mile from here, then he started doing special projects for Browning Arms. The next thing you know Browning hired him and he moved to Festus, Missouri, USAicon. He has since gone to Browning's in-house engraving school and has become their No.1 engraver.

If I could only train a few termintes to follow directions maybe I could get that done? HA HA.

    Very Very nice!!!!

Lining screw heads up, I do exactly the same where I can, even when I'm fitting panels to our jets, trying to line up 30 odd fasteners is OCD but I just can't help it. I was brought up in the 'If it looks right' school of thought.

Lovely piece of material. Top grade work. I've saved this so I can show a shooter/cabinetmaker friend of mine. He'll love it.
    Regards, Jim

Finally the T on the range

Well those that have been following my project will be at last in the know how my BSA No.4 T Shirley performed.
I learnt a few things that it does not like to be shot off the rest as Tgt - 1 shows I was rather worried at this point.
Tgt - 2 shows open sights with the sling so everything was starting to settle including me after Tgt - 1's effort.

Tgt - 3 shows adjusting the drum to coincide with the correct elevation, this is at 25 yds (22.86M) measured with a tape yep I was that pedantic.
This was the target that is for the SMLE for Mk VII ammo from the milsurps site, I left it a bit low due to better trajectory of the SMK these are running at a projected 2,440fps.

So now all I have to do is build a transit chest if some one can supply me with the plans for one I would appreciate it.

Thanks for your patience guys when I have shot this load a few times I will let you know what it is but it sits at 38,600psi for 2440fps with the 174 SMK.

    Thanks to all

What an awesome bit of wood. Stockmaking to that quality is dying art in this country.
The transit chest is actually a lot easier than it seems to be. I got my dad to build one for my No1Mk3* and although it had a few issues ( and that he used maple and waxed it instead of pin and paint ) it showed that they aren't too hard. I build a 'transit chest' for my MkIV Snider from memory and it does the job...... though it's huge.
