Here's a bit of advice chaps......... These batteries have just gone OBSOLETE NLA and WSE in the VAOS lists. That means that they're obsolete, and No Longer Available when stocks are exhausted. So if you have an IWS/IIW L1A- series or the Rank SS20 commercial equivalent or o0ne of the old NOD that takes these, then get a couple of spares NOW. The old 1998 ones are fast going flat through natural discharge
And to be brutally honest and frank, if I need them and have bought a few spare for mine with all the facilities I had then........ Anyway, please take my advice. Think like this.......... How many 7.5v batteries do you see this shape that'll fit your IIW?

I've been watching those. Might be time to grab some "fresher" ones.

Ron,
My IWS runs on just one. Not sure if it fits the pvs502.

Just one per IIW/IWS but I'm getting two as they seem to last 10 years out of use. But I'd advise taking them out of the IIW when not in use/stored. One type have been known to leech but the other type doesn't.
Incidentally, don't think that you can 'easily' make a few of these with a few small pen-lite batteries because these batteries have a one-way valve diode in the circuitry to prevent damage to the IIW optronics should you insert it the wrong way round and close the old cover! So be warned if you do. No problem with the real McCoy though.
GET A COUPLE WHILE YOU CAN is my advice..........

Brian at BDL, do you still have copies of the Infantry Training pamphlet for these old IWS/IIW's? What about the user handbook?

I still have a few quality reprints of both the user handbook and Infantry Training Pam available. Folks in need should get them while they can since I won't be printing them again.

Get one while you can I say! You know what'll happen in a couple of years time. The Indian Army will release all of their Rank SS20 IIW's (our L1A1 to 7 night vision), there'll be a few on the market, they'll all come with a battered case and handbook - written in Hindi or Urdhu!
