    A) Would have to be the one I got from a cousin who served in the Pacific during WWII as a SeaBee. Whether or not he actually "liberated" this IBM we'll never know, but he had it for years and years before I got it. Very "brown" metal which turned out to be ancient oil, mostly. Bore had random rust pits from one end to the other, but it shoots fine. (Guessing rain or condensation rather than corrosive primers.) It was one of my first milsurps. Way back in high school. No photos, bu a friend entered it into the CCC database.

The next favorite is an early Inland (!9,000 S/N range) in an "AA" marked stock:

Also probably the most accurate Carbine I've ever shot.

    B) A mixmaster that seemed in "freshly overhauled" shape, but shot about 3 feet left at 100 yards. It also liked to catch it's own empties. Never did figure out why it's POI was so far off!

    C) a very nice NPM which had an excellent look about it. All period correct features. High wood, flip sight, etc., etc. A friend was after it for years and I relented in a moment of weakness. Sad part is that the details of the swap are forgotten! Maybe he can remind me how he managed to wrangle the deal when I see him next.

Hope you get away from the doctors and the "horsespittle" soon!

Carbines were all over the place before the Rodney King Riots and the Assault Rifle Ban here in Ca. I remember during the riots people were trying to buy Semi Auto's that were on the Ban list . They had to wait 2 weeks to get them so they bought Carbines instead . I remember my local Gun Shop would have at least 6 sitting on the rack . All under 3-4 hundred dollars easy depending on make . I went to my shop after the riots to look around the Carbines were loong gone ! The prices were crazy I couldn't believe it , they had doubled . About sick Estate Sales I was talking to one local Dealer here and he told me this story : He had a lead on a Collector that had recently passed . The Widow got in contact with him to discuss the sale of some rare Luger's . These were Post WWI era rarities . He goes to meet the woman at her home. He notices a Pail in the back yard under a Rain Gutter. In this Pail is a bunch of Magazines all rusted. He meets the widow and inquires about the Pail . She told them they belong to the Luger's she wanted to get rid of !! He checked the Pail and all the Mags were serial numbered to the Pistols !! He told her that the Luger's were worth a LOT more with the matching Mags . Moral of the story Educate your Loved ones on your Toys . I have left notes on some of my Militaria to let my Family know about the Rarity Status . I want to let them get the most bang out of their buck .

I am free! Back home. The doctors aren't totally sure everything that was wrong. I apparently had a small clot, which has resolved with the drugs. There is still a 7mm "artifact" in the lower right lobe, that may be an older, non-occlusive clot which possess no risks. They completely scanned me, and I have no other clots. I am also having some other pulmonary issues with air flow, but non-critical. I will have a complete work up outpatient. As the Irish say, "every day you wake up on the right side of the sod, its a good day!: Thanks for all the prayers and wishes, and the entertaining posts. There is a reason this I open to this forum when I boot up my computer.

Hello old forum member ! I am not happy to see you in ill health at this time of the year. If I could do something to help, I would, but it appears I am about 12,000 miles away! I, like you, have been waiting for some interesting stuff to appear on the forum. I have been ripped a couple of times by delicate re-grinding and false serials being installed on receiver heels so any pics of similar happenings would be of interest to me. I am a learner, but D Barn, Marcus and that man "Roger" are my mentors ! I still havn't identified "Seth" from CSPicon. Waiting for Painter on that one but he is very slow !! Cheers All. Mikey, N.Z.
