Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. This mans story has always fascinated me. Regardless of your view of the causes and outcome of WWII in the Pacific the devotion to duty of this man is admirable.

Had read he shot and killed some poor Philippine unarmed civilians in cold blood for no reason while roaming and hiding. Never though he was any different then any of the other Japanese icon

soldiers that did that. No hero in my opinion, Ray

Good point. No doubt he embodied the fanaticism of the Japanese icon

military.
