    6 groove Smith Corona

    Greetings to all,
I just wanted to share a bit of good luck I experienced this weekend. For years I have been looking for a nice S/C . This weekend I was dragged to an estate auction where I found a sporterized S/C bidding was low I won. took it home stripped it cleaned it and by golly it had a 6 groove barrel everything that else that remained was S/C . Now I will have to find a decent stock. Soo good luck to all at the estate auctions lots of potts , pans and prints but every now and then... Tom .

thanks, I did the math I have been looking for too long. I 'll take the opportunity to ask the group if I should be looking for a pinned or bolted stock. Most likely I will use a new production stock , give it some original cartouche stamps and add a obvious bogus or restoration stamp just in case some hooligan gets it after I move on. What's the availability of
extra fancy wood for an o3 , fun to own but it also should be a warning flag to everyone else . Of course Darwin may be in play , thanks for any leads on a stock Tom

Of course it can not be. But if i insert "style" in just the right place it makes more sense. Perhaps I will forego stamping the stock , it is too easily misrepresented. Yes I think a good idea is to skip the markings. thanks Tom

I agree with your reasoning - I don't ever agree with "restoring" markings. eBay and other sites are filled with such "restorations".

Thanks. Funny thing about that I / we can sometimes get caught up with what is possible, really with the simple and earnest desire to just make something better, not for profit but because it is possible. Never really thought about how it might impact the importance of genuine artifacts, but it would and that is not a good thing . tjm
