Well it was coming....and here it is

Not a great lover of companies that spend their time producing this type of round, as it is always the good guys that cop it first.
What a stupid statement to make: "because the round is designed for 9mm handguns wielded by women, the R.I.P is a cruel home defense weapon because it will only cause maximum pain and suffering".

I've seen these already. I'd like some just to play with. I'm sure they'll be prohibitively expensive...or they'll be prohibited almost immediately...

That stuff is so over rated. I'll stick to my S&W 360 M&P revolver in .357 magnum with Winchester 110 grain HP's. One shot is all it takes. Just got to aim a bit high as the 110 grainers shoot a bit low.

The whole personal/home defense line of ammo is over rated IMO. Nothing more than a marketing ploy by the ammo makers. A lot of it is just standard loadings repackaged in a fancy box at twice the price, especially the shotgun ammo and buckshot in particular.
Perhaps I'm just a bit different to everybody else but I've always had it figured that when the time comes where one has to defend themselves with a firearm the best ammo for the job is just what's in the magazine at the time. A load of #8 birdshot to the face or 6'' below a belt buckle at close range will be just as effective as any specialty defense ammo out there.

Personally, I think there's no replacement for training at regular interval and competent handling of your favorite. Using one that is capable and has a spot in your heart often makes a difference when things get tight. Practice, practice, practice...

Boy youse guys got it easy over there I would have to wait and say to the perp, "Hang on whilst I go to this safe, get my gun then I will go to this safe to get the bolt and assemble it then open up the ammo safe and load the weapon."Oh dear I am either dead or they have fled the scene such are our securing of fire arm laws in Western Australiaicon.
Hence we have our houses like fort knox not good if you have to egress the house due to fire you cannot smash a window in my house armoured glass, so we have to have alternate means of getting close and personal with an invader I call them that as anyone who is uninvited and enters your house is not your friend, has shown intent and is to be dealt with in the most appropriate way and that does not include shaking their hands.
I will like all of us protect my family with extreme prejudice as materials can be replaced but those you love are gone forever and we are suffering over here due to the drugs and high unemployment a spate of thefts and home invasions some with disastrous results for the occupants.

Years ago there was a 45 ACP round developed called the Rhino big cavity full of bird shot pretty awesome damage to the perp what ever happened to them I think they were almost instantly banned, I mean why should we have a soft touch for a perp who's whole intent is to steal or injure you or your family.
I do not waste my time thinking about Oh! they may have had a poor child hood or are drug dependent just do what is needed to disable them quickly and efficiently so they present no further risk myself or family, why am I like this 15 years ago our house was broken into and I lost weapons and went through a whole lot of grief with our Police force we could store them differently back then.
I apologise for rabbiting on to the forum but as a victim of crime twice in my life criminals are my pet you know what

    Cinders,
Thanks for that, so you lads down south do have a similar load of bollocks as we do in the UKicon then. I got the wrong end of the stick the other day from someone who gave the impression it was easier in Oz and more relaxed!!

Back on the thread........... to see this round which follows soon after the BOZ .223 which goes through all known body and vehicular armour and comes out the other side is in my view poitless unless strictly curbed as to issue.

The BOZ was developed after the Los Angeles shootout with the 2 Ned Kelly's, as LA PD found all they had at the time was the Armalite, which ended up being about as usual as a porcupine in a Durex factory in the situation. The ironic thing was the round ended up being trialled and funded by the FBI.

Regardless who has these rounds made they always find their way in the bad guys hands!!

Registration of the weapons state to state varies W.A has the toughest, securing them is about the same all over Aus Auto's are out, Semis are out, Pumps are out, L.A's are boarder line, now we have the new barrel law which will restrict us target shooters even more.
Plus they take a dim view even if you are a target shooter owning more that 2 of the same calibre! sheesh...........
