A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. They do a much better job making movies than they used to

Blackhawk Down is a great example. That movie was dead on perfect to the book and the truth. The Army loaned Ridley Scott all of the air assets he needed, with mechanics, pilots and a company of Rangers to act as extras and to guard all of the stuff in Morocco. The Army wanted the real story to come out. Point being, these movies aren't "Gung Ho" or "Sands of Iwo Jima" with a drunk John Wayne pulling grenade pins with his teeth.

Based on true events. Not documentaries.

I take them for what they are, a few hours of entertainment.

I don't think you guys are getting what I meant. I also know the story. I have volumes on it. Blackhawk down was a different one again. BOB had it's problems with facts. This thing wasn't any of them. I thought the characters made it bad. Not the story. If they'd had actors that came closer to the truth, it might have been better.

I also thought MM was just an okay movie. I knew a little bit about the real MM, but I expected a better movie I guess. I also agree, most of the real MM guys probably carried .45's, a few Thompsons, & mostly carbines back in the day.
