Australian bayonet identification

I wondering if I could get help to identify the Australian bayonet (in the picture) , it has been in the family for years. I believe it could be WW2 era but not sure but used by a Australian soldier. And hence what type of gun it would've been attach to (Owen Gun?).
Any help or any website you could send me to help me identify it would be grateful.

it is a British first pattern 1888 and fits the lee Metford rifle it may have been Australian issue but it is not Australian made the scabbard is complexity wrong and for the australian Mk1 bayonet made in WWII

During their martial time the Aussies used just about everything the UK issued. Seeing this appear where you are doesn't surprise me...but like Carl says...

The Mk. 1 Pattern 1888 Bayonets are worth a lot of money..... There is one for sale here in New Zealand and the owner wants $1200 NZD ($600 USD) for it. Thats rather high but it gives an idea of how much these are worth. Far more than a 'normal' Pattern 1888 bayonet.

Nice bayonet! Hard to find in that condition. As the others have said a scarce one too! Keep it in the family, also document its history of who carried it, will add provenance to it! These are showing for sale in England around $1200-1700USD depending on condition and if regimental marked etc...but this is the extreme range for prices. But of course this stuff does not seem to get any cheaper over time.
