Wink My 75+ Years Old Neighbor and My M1 Garand!

Ralph is a heavily involved reenactor in 18th and 19th century wars/battles. Builds or restores his own military black powder firearms for their appropriate periods. Participated (led a 1,000-count Union group for the Picket's Charge defense) in the 150th Gettysburg event last year). He had never (NEVER!) shot a smokeless powder firearm before today. Yesterday, I was showing him some of my collection, and asked if he would like to join us for a range session today. Answer: Yes. I said pick a rifle, and he chose my March 1945 Springfield Arsenal M1icon Garand. Then I showed him how to load the en bloc clips, and walked him through the action cycling, with a warning about 'M1 thumb'. Good to go. Off to the range this morning, and the target below shows the results. I was impressed. Good shooting! Good rifle! Good ammo!
