Eaton carcano 6.5x54 ms

Ijust bought and it's on it's way to me a Eaton carcano and was wondering if anyone here has one and shoots it, I've read a lot of negative stuff about it so I was hoping someone is shooting one and has some info, Thanks!

Never heard of one before so hard to comment on it. Did some checking on the web and it's a semi-sporterized carcano which is essentially enough to get all the negatives you want. Probably not dangerous to fire, probably accurate with the right loads, it's just something that few are going to want. The double set triggers are interesting but not enough to get many fired up about it.

You'll have to post some good photos of it once you get it so we can all see what they look like. Photos on the web now are poor although there are a couple of videos to be found. While it's not a military variant, it is a variant of sorts.

I would be very careful to verify the caliber before you attempt to shoot it. Seems there is some variance with these.

Check the bore. If it's 0.264" then it's not the Italian round. (although the Carcano round will still fit!) Apparently there was some redone to 6,5 MS.

Mine has odd, almost "microgroove", rifling.

My wife has two, one is in relic condition, the other I've refurbished to near new. They are a beautiful thing to shoot. My wife is 5'3", 115lbs and the Carcanos are here favorite rifle to shoot for obvious reasons.

Hers are both in 6.5x54MS.

I own and fire one that I recondition restock and scope .
the Eaton Carcano sporter chambered for the 6.5x54MS cartridge (.264 ) was imported in Canada by Cooey for the T.Eaton Co.,some time during the 1930.
Due to the unavailability of hunting cartridges or brass for the 6.5x52 Carcano the rifles was rebarrel in Austria with barrels of Mannlicher Schonnauer 6.5x54.
The operation is a little different than normally done since the new barrel is screw on the stump of the original barrel cutt of at about 2" after the front of the reciver.
At the same time a double set trigger replace the military one. (little less than 1000 imported at the time by Globe Firearms of Ottawa for the T. Eatons Co. )
Eatons sold plenty of them, it was one of the cheapest sporter on the market and the leader canadian Ammo maker at the time "Dominion" (IVI, C.I.L) made the cartridges available
