Markings Question
I am looking at a No4 Mk1 that has a 5 digit serial number on the wrist with a "JC" on top of it. The only other marking I can find is an "S" on the wood. What can you guys tell me about this one?

Need Pictures and the serial number to help
I never understand the problem with revealing the serial number - is it some peculiar American 'conspiracy theory'
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

The serial number is 20560 . The bolt says JC20560. Other then the S on the butt stock I can find no other markings.

Manufactured by Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerly (Near Liverpool)
Check to see if there are any very feint markings on the left hand side wall of the action - maybe something like "No4 Mk1 (F) 2/45"
They are normally applied with an electropencil and not easy to see,

The "S" is stamped on the butt stock just behind the trigger guard
