Another with late and mixed parts.

This guys says I'm sure carbine collectors know what they are looking at. I think he is expecting huge dollars. It will bring a good price, only 28,949 receivers were contracted (War Baby page 383) from OCT 1943 to March 1944. But I think he might be disappointed. No reserve.

According to relatively recent Carbine Club data/analysis, only about 7500 carbines were actually produced

    @ $657

    See 1st picture.
Does the stock look like it's been cut, the part the buttplate would cover?

Must be glare. A couple pictures down it shows the back of the stock with the butt plate in place.

    Jim,
I know the stock isn't original to this carbine, but curious if it had been cut short :
I sent the seller this question......

Has the end of the stock been cut, where the Butt plate would wrap around? Thx, Charlie-Painter777

    Seller replied with this:

Sorry for the slow reply but I didn't know how to answer your question so I took the carbine over to a friends house for comparison. His is an Inland and if all the stocks are about the same then mine seems to be 1/8th of an inch short. I measured from the edge of the sling slot to the end of the stock on both sides. I know my dad didn't do it so it must have been done by the government in an arsenal for some reason, my dad never took a gun apart in his life. Very perceptive of you to spot it but I knew that collectors would know more about it than I could ever write up in a listing so I relied on pictures. Some bozo sent me a huge tutorial on M-1's trying to excercise his intellengence of lack of I guess but he missed the stock part. Thanks for the contact.....Gary

I think I can take that as a yes, the recess for the butt plate has been cut off..

    Cheers,
    Charlie-Painter777
