Dad was rushed to hospital a few days ago, he has not been very well recently. We hope he gets home soon.

    Prayers for Sandy.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Visited Sandy in Kamloops hospital today. Met his son Mike who lives in the East Kootenays, have heard lots about him and nice to put a face to the name. Sandy's daughter Karina was also there and Ian and his sons are making arrangements to get to Kamloops asap.

In 1954 Sandy bought a Long Branch No4Mk1* and that is the rifle he shot in competition in Calgary and also took the goat with at 900 yards. It was in the grease so probably never issued.

Mike got the gun when he was 16 and wanting a hunting rifle sporterized it and wants to return it to its old glory.

    NEED YOUR HELP

Mike has what would be a uncut barrel and action/magazine for the Long Branch so needs everything else, complete wood, and all other parts including front and rear sight. He had the sights but they were destroyed in a house fire. I told Mike earlier today I would post this in the thread and know it is the wrong place to ask however we have all enjoyed so many stories about Sandy and IMHO it is OK to ask for help.

I know this is asking a lot as LB wood and parts can be difficult to find however from my experience on here people really do help others.

    I will give you Mike's email 19ironmike51@gmail.com

If you would rather deal thru me at this time please send me a pm and I will forward all leads to Mike at a appropriate time.

    Thanks guys

    Don

Mike found the front and rear sights so need butt plate, all wood, barrel bands and screws.

Sadly, dad passed away last night, he will be a great loss to us. He was always intrigued to hear that so many people on this forum thought so much of him too.
Both my sons and I were urgently organising a flight to see him before it was too late but this was not to be. I'm so pleased that Don and Cass were able to visit him, he thought a lot of them, always saying what very nice guys they were. He enjoyed their visits very much and always looked forward to seeing them.
I can't sign off without saying a big thanks to my sister and brother for doing so much for him, which I couldn't do from here in the UKicon.
    Ian.

Ian, Karina, Mike and family. The news last night was sad however know all who have followed this thread on Sandy's life appreciate the look he so willingly gave us of his 95 years on this earth.

Sincere condolences from Cass and me.
