Make sure you remove the selector spring before you weld the pin in. It might not spring if you don't.

The sear needs to be modified so it can engage the tang that's attached to the firing pin. Hopefully I will get that and some of the bolt modifications done tomorrow.
Something I noticed today.... The Patchett magazine well has a threaded hole to secure the ejector. The hole is not threaded on the Mk4.

The hole in the Lanchester magazine well is threaded.... so maybe a Lanchester ejector will work in the Patchett?

I am reasonably sure it will work but the problem is that there are only a few threads that engage onto the ejector screw which were prone to stripping. Better (in my own and that of the Sterling Co) opinion to put a small flat on the Mk4 ejector to coincide with the flat you have there and then use a Mk4 stepped grub screw to locate the ejector into the block. If you haven't got a stepped grub screw, then don't worry. The ejector will be retained in place by the magazine catch bolt!

Thought I'd be clever and use a carbide endmill for the firing pin tip hole. It went in about a half inch before it snapped off inside the hole. Not such a bright idea after all. Carbide is extremely hard and brittle. With nothing that could cut it... I spent some time chipping away at it until I had it all removed.
Then used a cobalt drill bit to finish the hole.
It's a bit larger than I wanted..... but it will work.

The bevel inside the bolt has to go for the insert to fit correctly.
The bevel is gone and the firing pin fits. I will set the firing pin protrusion later... with a smaller diameter bit.

Thanks. The bolt is case hardened and I wanted to cut through it to the softer stuff. I will go slower next time.
