Adding a 10 inch cleaning rod to my RC K98 - not seating all the way in?
I'm in the process of adding a 10 inch cleaning rod to my RC K98 but at the present time I can only get it part way in. The cleaning rod is currently extending about 3 inches out past the end of the barrel. I did slide a shish kabob skewer into the cleaning rod holder and the skewer does go all the way to the cleaning rod lug nut but it is not seating all the way in?
I did spray some Hopps #9 in the hole and will try again tonight, Should the rod just slide in to the lug and then just screw on the 1/2" of threads or should it twist all the way down the hole.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Kind regards,
Dave

I had the same problem and I wound up removing to threaded "nut" and cleaning. It had some gunk that had solidified over the years and took some persuading to get it out.

Al's likely right too...I'd do a strip and check. Unless you have the wrong piece of rod...they all look so close.

I finally got it seated and it looks great. Had to use crud buster and a few pipe cleaners to clean out the slot for the rod and then it slid right in and a few turns and it was nicely threaded into the cleaning rod lug .
Thanks for the advice.

Yup, perfect. That's a part usually missing from them...
