Fewer Vickers builders than even Bren builders.
    I'm in, regardless.

I am in the last group of apprentices that were taught Vickers. And lucky to have been where the very last were used in action. Well, they were withdrawn in two places. Aden with paratroopers and Borneo/Indonesia border with the Gurkhas in 1968. We still had six at Warminster that came out when the need arose.

Water in the jacket, hose and can might not go amiss. While vibration kills machine guns, heat is the biggest killer of MG barrels............

In the real world in which the Vickers lived we didn't really care what tripod went with which gun. Every gun was set up and every tripod was mechanically set-up too. They weren't a matched 'set' so to speak. On that basis, any tripod will suit any gun

Yep, the VSM side plate gun I have is built using an Australianicon kit with a few Britishicon parts mixed in. I installed/packed a new Australian barrel from Dolf Goldsmith since the barrel it came with wouldn't stabilize Mk.8 projectiles. Mk.7 was tumbling at 100 yards and a bit hard on the target stands! It came with a Colt contract tripod missing the data plate and runs like a top.

Should read Mk.8 was tumbling. Mk.7 ran fine. Need more coffee.
