IWS Bag
Hi, hope someone can help. I recently picked up a bag which looks the same as the soft IWS carry case except it is at least twice the size with four "D" rings on the base presumably so Bergen straps can be attached. Its marked "Telescope Straight Image Intensified L5A1"
5855-99-965-2001 and Z7 5855-99-965-2005.
Cant find anything in google image and wondered what its purpose was and what went in it as a standard IWS would fit ten times over.

Did you type iws bag in our custom search engine, located in top right corner of site?
Might be some pics and other information you need amongst all those threads..
Regards,
Doug

Might it be for the big IIW that had the huge OG lens. It was a static IWS with a tripod used in/on the watchtowers

Cheers Jim!! That's the bag in question. That scope doesn't look like anything that would go on an L42!
Anybody want a trade for an IWS bag?????

I don't think I have ever seen that sight before except in a picture, The bracket looks a bit like a bracket from one of the very early .485 trials rifles. The 1981 would seem to confirm this.
The sight I was thinking about in my earlier comment was the Night Observation Device or simply the NOD. Or to the crunchies, it was known as the NODDY sight! Had the same optronic internals as the old Rank-Pullin SS20/L1A1 to 7 sight
