    pocket scope mount.

    Hi
Has anyone got some good photos they could post here of the L1A1 top cover mount for the Britishicon Army pocket scope L6A1 (?)
I believe it was a Standard NATO Rail fixed to what looked like the bottom of a Suit Sight top cover.
    Thanks
    Andy

Here's the Mount your asking about

With a slight modification you can mount the SUSAT Sight to it.

That top rail looks remarkably similar to the rail on the top of the L85/6 bodies. It also oooks like the rail that went on the .50 sight mount too...... and probably everything else too Skippy!

Very interesting. Did it work well? It wouldn't take much to be an improvement over the old SUIT sight.

Contrary to popular belief Brian, that cover was made for the early night vision on the L1A1 and not the SUSAT. That rail configuration was the standard UKicon rail but, alas, like many other things, other nations had other ideas and the picatinny became the NATO standard. There was much discussion about changing the UK non standard rails to picatinny as rifles went through the L85/86A1 to A2 programme. But that alone added almost 50% to the package conversion cost. PLUS new bracketry for the SUSATS and other stuff.......... Phew!

The best idea was a simple, thin hard alloy anodised adaptor plate from UK to picatinny designed by the great Joe XXXX from the ITDU (who won a monetary award). End of problem. Rifle retained old rail and Superb SUSAT and to fit anything with picatinny rail, just use the adaptor plate. A similar ploy came into use on the L98's but by the time of the L113's........ Well, the rest is history

I used one of the trials adaptor plates to to put an N-Law anti-tank Trijicon onto my L98. Worked a treat and there to this day.

Ooooops...... more crap info....... Have I gone off thread enough yet?
