Savage Enfield with Odd Cartouche "P"

    Hello all,
I have inherited an oddity. I have a Savage No. 4 MK I. Stamped US Property and all of the other fun stories that lie within its stamping. The stock, forearm and hand guard have a capital "P" in them.
Does anybody here know what they represent or is this just another wartime beautification to the rifle?
    Thank you kindly.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. If someone beautified their rifle like that and it came into our Armourers shop, we'd be doing a bit of bum-kicking! Saw ornate carvings on New Zealandicon L1A1's issued to Maoris.

Similar to the W.T. that is branded in the butt of one of my No. 4 Mk2's.
School identifier, perhaps? Answers lost to time......

I had a '94 saddle ring carbine with a ranch brand in the stock, forearm and receiver. This is the same. Nothing important.
