I know what you guys called it and I actually preferred the M60 over the MAG58 because it was easier to carry and had less pointy bits.
I really liked the FN minimi that was passed around before the good parts were cut off to become the F89 like the skeleton stock that was also a good carry handle turning into a fat lump of plastic. But thats another story

Has no one noticed the M60 on the tripod is in fact on a Vickers tripod?

The select fire trigger mechanism is made by Ohio Ordnance Works. I bought one for my post sample OOW M240B direct from Bob Landies in 2010 right after they were tested. It's well designed and works like a champ. The M240B is equipped with a Picatinny top cover and M145 Elcan scope. A very successful combination.
The M60 is a bit lighter to carry but having worked on my fair share as a young armorer in the 1980's, there's really no comparison to the M240B which was a late comer to the U.S. Infantry. They were in service as tank guns starting in '84-'85 if memory serves. FN built the factory, (FNMI), in Columbia, SC for their production in the early 80's. I have some horror stories about the early M249 SAWs too. The Airborne were hard on weapons. If there were any flaws, it didn't take long to find them.

You may have to elaborate on that one, it's not like the Vickers MkIV tripod but that's about the only one I'd recognise.

I think you'll find it's for a MAG 58/GPMG/C6 MG...Look at the buffers under the back of the gun for instance...

It' looks like a British tripod for the GPMG. The twin hydraulic buffers are obvious as Jim says. Excellent tripod too.

opps, I must be going blind its just the way the tripod is standing and the long release arms looked like a modified vickers tripod.

M60 still going strong
This is over 6 years old but the M-60 E-4 has a new life and at 15,000 rounds out of a barrel I reckon that's pretty good the guy at the end of those 8.5 belts relief can be imagined and from a single pull of the trigger no less.
Enjoy the clip, I did, reckon you could certainly cook an egg on that barrel in the shell?

L5a1 tripod
The Aussie M60 pam says it is an L5A1 tripod . So it sounds a bit British to me.
