Number off so 241B for today

ENLISTED MAN CATCHES UP ON LOST SLEEP after spending all night packing and moving with his regiment to the port of embarkation in preparation for a move from New Caledonia to another South Pacific island. The hilt of the saber which shows on the right side of the pack is that of an Australianicon cavalry saber issued in lieu of a machete.

The US Cavalry discontinued the saber(Model 1913) in 1935. The Philippine 26th Cavalry did use the Model 1915 bolo bayonet into WW2

Notice that the scabbard on his 1905 bayonet (for his 1903 Springfield rifle) is the leather type that was an early conversion from having the Kragicon belt hanger to the up to date 1910 hanger.

Fred, I think that is the Model 1917 Enfield scabbard which was used during WW2 for the Model 1905 bayonet ?
