    Ballpark value 1918 SSA No.1 Mk.III*

I know we all hate these kinds of threads, but I have been offered a 1918 SSA No.1 Mk.III*. Serial numbers match on the receiver, bolt, barrel, rear sight and muzzle cap. Bore is frosty with good rifling. No import mark. No Ishy screw, no FTR marks. The "ears" look complete on the hand guards. I do not want the screw the guy over, but what would be a reasonable ballpark price for a correct matching pretty good condition 1918 SSA No.1 Mk.III* in the US? I might be able to get it for $400.

This is the only image I have so far, will be asking for more.

    Hmmm...all I can hear is crickets....:P

Ok, I bought the rifle. It is as mentioned above. Someone decided to remove almost all of the bluing off of the receiver, but I can live with that (hardly going to attempt a reblue job). Apart from the loss of bluing, the rifle looks like it hasn't been messed with since 1918 (to my untrained eyes, that is - I am sure someone will chirp up and let me know how it has been tinkered with over the years). As you can see, someone was not gentle removing the rear hand gaurd on one or more occasions, so I am looking for a replacement in the same type of wood (walnut, so I have been told). Anyone out there with a spare?? The rifle came with a WW2 P14 sling that looks original.

The charger bridge is a little wobbly, and 1 rivet has sheared, but I will research on here how best to deal with that.

I think $400 is fine for that rifle. If it were mine i'd tart it up again and repair the handguard since that hand guard looks like its been there since 1918 it will match better. The rifle needs non service repair to the charger bridge, does that count as 'tinkering'
