    B West AK receiver question.

Ok..I am currently bidding on a Chicom AK that has a receiver made by B West, Tucson Arizona. I have heard plenty of horror stories concerning these receivers, I have also read many accounts of people having no problem with them. These rifles generally appear to fall into two categories..those IMPORTED by B West, good to go. Those with a serial number beginning with 999...run away. ( improper heat treating ) The one I am bidding on is a 999 rifle. My intention here is to shoot it until it starts to egg the FCG holes, then rebuild it on a properly heat treated receiver.
My question is, has anyone had genune first hand experiences with these B West assembled rifles? There's a lot of 'I heard it from' on the net, and would like some serious feedback on this. Thanks!

I would steer clear of it myself. I have not had any first hand experience with them however if you get it when you do swap it out go with a Childers receiver. They are the best. I had a Krinks brand that was really bad and egged the FCG holes. I used to use Nodak Spuds but they have a horrible rust issue because of the salt that seeps out of the center support.

I had heard once that B-West and Krinks were the same company but I don't know how true that is.

Get a Saiga and restore it yourself. Make it any configuration you want. It is a real Russianicon made Kalashnikov (based on the new AK103 series), with chrome lined, hammer forged barrel, made in the same plant that has been making AK platforms since 1946. In fact, Mikhial Kalashnikov's son is a production manager, IIRC. Here are some of the builds I have done on Saigas: The first (my current one) is a minimal build, using a saiga factory Druganov stock and tapco handguards.

Most Saigas, especially with a Tapcg G2 fire control group, will shoot under 2 MOA. I had one that almost made 1 MOA with a 4X at 100 yards.
